Fern Creek Fire & EMS is Hiring a Firefighter Near Louisville, KY

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs a variety of administrative and technical work in fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, fire prevention, and public education activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties shall include but are not limited to the following:
  • Respond to all dispatched incidents and perform basic firefighting and emergency medical duties.
  • Responsible for maintaining a minimum certification of Level 1 Firefighter for the State of Kentucky.
  • Responsible for maintaining State certification for an EMT.
  • Answers telephone system and takes messages for distribution to appropriate personnel as needed.
  • Responsible for testing and inspecting of fire hydrants.
  • Responsible for painting of fire hydrants.
  • Responsible for the daily inspection and cleaning of apparatus, tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for the daily inspection and cleaning of all fire stations, interior and exterior.
  • Responsible for the lawn and landscape maintenance of all stations.
  • Responsible for the care and maintenance of the lawn equipment.
  • Responsible for the testing and inspection of all fire hose.
  • Responsible for assisting with maintenance, inventory, and record keeping of SCBA. This includes the cascade system at all stations and the air compressor on Unit 7181.
  • Shall work as a team with other crew members and volunteers.
  • Performs the duties of the Sergeant in their absence.
  • Shall perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief.
Required Education and Experience: Kentucky 150hr/Basic 1 certified FF, IFSAC FF1 and FF2, KY EMT-B, IFSAC, CPAT at time of employment.
