Fern Creek Fire & EMS is Hiring a Firefighter Near Louisville, KY
Performs a variety of administrative and technical work in fire suppression, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, fire prevention, and public education activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to all dispatched incidents and perform basic firefighting and emergency medical duties.
- Responsible for maintaining a minimum certification of Level 1 Firefighter for the State of Kentucky.
- Responsible for maintaining State certification for an EMT.
- Answers telephone system and takes messages for distribution to appropriate personnel as needed.
- Responsible for testing and inspecting of fire hydrants.
- Responsible for painting of fire hydrants.
- Responsible for the daily inspection and cleaning of apparatus, tools and equipment.
- Responsible for the daily inspection and cleaning of all fire stations, interior and exterior.
- Responsible for the lawn and landscape maintenance of all stations.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of the lawn equipment.
- Responsible for the testing and inspection of all fire hose.
- Responsible for assisting with maintenance, inventory, and record keeping of SCBA. This includes the cascade system at all stations and the air compressor on Unit 7181.
- Shall work as a team with other crew members and volunteers.
- Performs the duties of the Sergeant in their absence.
- Shall perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief.
